City of Sandusky Celebrates Arbor Day
John Parker, a member of the City's Tree Commission, provided the students with an insightful history of Arbor Day. He also read a City Proclamation and discussed the critical role trees play in enhancing urban environments. Staff from the Forestry Davison then gave students an opportunity to assist planting the three new trees in the park.
The day continued with a presentation by Nate Leimeister, Forestry Foreman and Certified Arborist, at the Erie County Senior Center. Mr. Leimeister shared expertise on the City's forestry efforts and provided tips on proper tree care.
The City's Forestry Division is committed to enhancing green spaces and community well-being by planting approximately 100 trees in the city annually. Residents are encouraged to learn more about these efforts and explore the interactive Tree Inventory map by visiting the Forestry Division's website at www.CityofSandusky.com/Forestry.
