Sandusky Warming Shelter Opens
Sandusky, Ohio -- January 10, 2022 -- A Community Warming Shelter will be opening at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in response to the upcoming low forecasted temperatures. The shelter inside New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at 1920 Eddy Henry Way will be open at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10 until 8:00 a.m. January 11. A warm shelter, cots to sleep, and light food will be provided.

Sandusky Transit System (STS) and Sandusky Police Department (SPD) will provide transportation to the warming shelter location to those in need, free of charge. The closest STS stops to New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church are the Green Line stops 20/28 and Purple Line stops 8/21.


Anyone arriving at the Warming Shelter will need to fill out a COVID-19 Symptom assessment form and will be required to stay socially distant from others during their visit. Masks will be required and Firelands Health will be offering COVID vaccines to any person who wants one. No re-entry will be allowed after 10 p.m. in the Warming Station and no smoking is allowed.
