The City Commission consists of seven electors of Sandusky, elected to represent the city at large. City Commissioners are elected for terms of four years. Elections occur in odd numbered years (Ex. 2021, 2023, etc.)
The City Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 5 pm. At these meetings, the City Commission reviews and votes on many different pieces of legislation. These can include resolutions, changes to the Codified Ordinances (Sandusky’s local laws), and approvals of contracts and expenditures of funds for large city projects.
Commissioner Richard Brady, Commission President
Richard (Dick) Brady currently serves as the President of the City Commission. He was born and raised in Sandusky, where he has been a business owner for over 35 years. A graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School, Commissioner Brady continued his education at the University of Dayton where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Commissioner Brady is the President of Brady Electric, Inc. and Brady Sign Company. In addition, he has developed and actively manages commercial and multi-family residential properties in Sandusky and Perkins Township. He and his wife, Debra, have three adult children and three grandchildren.

Dennis Murray, Jr. has been a trial lawyer with the local law firm of Murray & Murray Co., L.P.A. since 1987. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University (magna cum laude) and a law degree from Georgetown University Law School (cum laude).
Commissioner Murray currently serves as the Vice President of the City Commission, and previously as president from 2014-2019. He previously represented Sandusky as a City Commissioner from 2006 – 2008, serving as President in 2008. He was then elected to the Ohio House of Representatives from 2009 – 2012.
Commissioner Murray and his wife, Martha, have four children and have long been proudly active with the Sandusky City Schools and the Sandusky Catholic community in various capacities.

Commissioner Blake Harris
Blake Harris was born and raised in Sandusky and has been a local entrepreneur for the last 10 years.
A proud 2006 graduate of Sandusky High School, Commissioner Harris is the founder and co-chair of the Minority Business Empowerment Team (MBET), a grassroots collaborative effort between local minority-owned businesses, economic development organizations, the Erie County Economic Development Corporation (ECEDC) and RISE, the City of Sandusky, and Sandusky City Schools.
Commissioner Harris is active serving on various boards and committees, such as: For Love with Love Charity, Erie County Chamber of Commerce, CPAC, Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) co-chair, EHOVE Advisory Board, and SHS Business Management Advisory Team.

Commissioner Mike Meinzer
Mike Meinzer was born and raised in Sandusky and is a graduate of Sandusky High School. He is a 33-year veteran of the Sandusky Fire Department, retiring as Fire Chief.
Commissioner Meinzer currently serves on the Landmark Commission and the Community Corrections Board. He previously served on the Planning Commission and the Charter Review Committee. Commissioner Meinzer has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for over 40 years, has two adult children and six grandchildren

Commissioner Steve Poggiali
Steve Poggiali was born and raised in the City of Sandusky. He graduated from Sandusky High School, the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Cleveland State University with a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Design and Development.
Commissioner Poggiali worked for the City of Sandusky Planning Department for 12 years and spent 17 years at Erie Regional Planning, retiring as the Director at the end of April 2021. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Lake Erie Shores and Islands, Erie County Port Authority, Erie County Mental Health and Recovery Board and the Salvation Army.
Commissioner Poggiali is married and has two cats Piggsly and Pepper.

Commissioner Wes Poole
Wes Poole is a lifelong resident of Sandusky and a graduate of Sandusky High School and Bowling Green State University. He worked for Firelands Regional Medical Center for 37 years and also retired at the rank of Major from the Ohio Army National Guard. Commissioner Poole has been involved in the workings of local government for several years, was a member of the 2010 Charter Review Committee and is a graduate of Leadership Erie County.

Commissioner Dave Waddington
Dave Waddington was born and raised in Sandusky and is a graduate of Sandusky High School. He previously served on the Sandusky City Commission from 2004 - 2011. He currently serves as the liaison to the Board of Zoning Appeals, Recreation Board and the Tree Commission. He also serves on the City Energy Special Improvement District Board and the Southside Steering Committee. He also organizes the city cleanup, which he has been doing for 20 years.
Commissioner Waddington is retired from the Sandusky City Schools and is a current holder of a State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license. He is a former World Record Holder in Power Lifting, is married and has one adult son.
