Economic Impact Study The Economic Impact Feasibility Study specific to The Marina District project was was commissioned by the Sandusky Erie County Community Foundation. |
Located on Sandusky Bay, Sandusky has over 22 miles of shoreline within the city limits. We are the governmental seat of Erie County and are noted for our beautifully landscaped parks, our historical architecture and the Sandusky Bay Pathway. The City's Mission is to achieve the highest quality of life for our community through focused economic development effort, the delivery of world-class public service, and the promotion of open communication for all.
Mr. Konkel's speech is available on the Sponsored by the Sandusky-Erie County Community Foundation, the Erie County Energy Sustainable Task Force, Bowling Green State University-Firelands College and the City of Sandusky. A Solar Array at the City's Greenhouse, 620 Elm Street, now provides a functioning model to demonstrate how location and environmental conditions affect solar electric production. You can view how much electric this solar array generates as well as how much we are reducing the production of greenhouse gasses. Click here to view real-time analysis of this system!
Sandusky was featured in the September, 2007 issue of Coastal Living magazine - for people who love the coast!
Natural Gas Program for City Residents Direct Energy is the city's current supplier of natural gas for residents who chose to opt into this program and Buckeye Energy Brokers is our aggregator and program manager. Beginning with the December, 2008 billing cycle, a fixed price of $1.0368/Ccf will be offered to residential customers and small commercial customers. This fixed price remains in effect through the November, 2009 billing cycle. Current and potential new customers should be on the lookout for a mailing from Direct Energy and the City of Sandusky for an opportunity to save on their natural gas purchases. Current customers will be notified of their automatic re-enrollment into the program at this new rate; potential new customers will be required to mail the opt-in form to Direct Energy to participate. Residents who have chosen to be part of the city's aggregation program have already realized a tremendous savings in their natural gas costs. As an example, a homeowner with an average gas use of 112.5 Ccf each month would pay $116.64/month under the city's aggregation program with Direct Energy. With variable natural gas rates currently hovering around $1.30/Ccf, this same homeowner would pay $146.25/month with another supplier thereby increasing their cost for natural gas by $29.61/month or $355.32/year. To enroll or to obtain additional information about this program, contact Direct Energy at 1.866.803.4618 or Buckeye Energy Brokers at 1.866.302.2237. Electric Aggregation Program for City Residents In November, 2000, Sandusky's residents voted to allow the City to contract for an electric generation supplier on their behalf. First Energy Solutions is the city's current supplier of electric generation for both residential and commercial customers. Those who are part of the city's aggregation program are provided a "generation shopping credit" of two percent (2%) from monthly costs incurred for their electric supply. Ohio Municipal League
