Full-time Firefighters
The City of Sandusky is a Civil Service community and we offer civil service examinations every two years for those interested in being a full-time Firefighter.

The Sandusky Fire Department offers an Explorers program which is sponsored by the Sandusky-Erie County Community Foundation [Disclaimer], the Erie County Firefighters Association and the Department of Homeland Security [Disclaimer].
The Explorers program is part of the "Learning for Life" career education for young men and women who are 14 years of age (who have completed the 8th Grade) through the age of 20. Five areas of emphasis include Career Opportunities, Life Skills, Service Learning, Character Education and Leadership Service.
