City of Sandusky's Water Quality Report
The Water Quality Report provides annual water quality data based on the most recent 12-month operating cycle. The EPA's Consumer Confidence Rule requires public water suppliers that serve the same people year-round (community water systems) to provide consumer confidence reports (CCR) to their customers. These reports are also known as annual water quality reports or drinking water quality reports. The CCR summarizes information regarding sources used, any detected contaminants, compliance and educational information.

CROSS-CONNECTIONS PREVENTION AND BACKFLOW SURVEYTo protect the health and well-being of all water users and the integrity of the water distribution system, the supplier of water, which is the City of Sandusky, is required by Ohio Revised Code to conduct periodic surveys of water users’ premises. These surveys determine whether there are cross-connections and examine the degree of hazard to the public water system to ensure adequate backflow devices are in-place.

Per Codified Ordinance 939.50 of the City of Sandusky, surveys will be conducted “at any reasonable time” for commercial and industrial buildings, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm. Surveys are to be conducted at least once every five (5) years and the cost of a cross-connections and backflow survey will be $25.00 per hour (one (1) hour minimum) and will be added to the City utilities bill once the survey is complete.

BACKFLOW PREVENTION PROGRAM In addition to the survey, property owners must have their backflow devices tested every twelve (12) months by a certified backflow tester/installer, licensed by the state of Ohio as competent to test backflow prevention devices, and a copy of the report must be submitted to the water supplier.

A fee for maintenance of records must accompany report submissions or the report will not be processed and the property may be subject to discontinuation of water services due to non-compliance. The annual fee schedule is as follows:

Residential Report $10.00
Commercial Report - Initial* $10.00

*Each additional commercial report for the same premises within each reporting period will be an additional $10.00

All reports and payments may be submitted to:
City of Sandusky
Attn: Customer Accounting
240 Columbus Avenue
Sandusky, OH, 44870

Forms of payment accepted include checks and money orders made payable to the City of Sandusky. Cash or credit card payments are accepted but must be submitted in-person along with the report between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
